TWILIGHT ANGEL (ange demi-jour)

Description: Many great writers and poets have glorified the time of day falling just after sunset: Twilight.
This angel was inspired by the beauty of that dusky, often purplish time in the evening, before it is actually night time. Her wings are heavily textured with modeling paste, paint, and fibre compound. You can see and feel the raised areas that mimic angel feathers. Her dress is also textured, but in a different way. It is smoothed with a palette knife into pleats and gathers. The result appears like fine fabric that is wrapped around and around her statuesque figure. In her left hand she holds a gold timepiece showing that twilight is nearing.
As I was working on this painting, I noticed that her eyes will follow you from anywhere you stand. She is comforting and strong.
